My husband I are new gardeners attempting to transform the gardens of our first home. We live in a log cabin on +10 acres of woods. With the help of my husband's parents aka Garden Maven we have been able to lay out trails and choose plants. Everyone needs a little help now and then so this blog has been created as a personal reference for gardening in South West New Hampshire.

Great picture. Try not to pick them. Wait for them to dry and go to seed. Seed will be in the dried dark center of the flower. Wear gloves to rub flower center and scatter the seeds where you want the blackeye susans next year. Best done in the fall. Be sure to clear away grass or weeds and scratch loose one quarter inch of soil before dispersing seeds. Then tamp lightly on seeds and sprinkle lightly loose soil. This allows the seeds to have better contact with soil for growth and nutrients next spring and keeps them from washing away over the winter. Have fun!
